Gladys Irene Rasche, 91, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at Southeast Hospital.
She was born Sept. 27, 1922, at Gordonville, daughter of Alfred H. and Emma Deneke Rasche.
Gladys was a graduate of Jackson High School and Southeast Missouri State University. She was employed by Southeast Hospital 40 years, from 1947 to 1987. At the time of her retirement, administrator O.D. Niswonger commented, "Gladys is one of the most dependable, loyal employees this hospital has ever had. Through the years, Gladys has given her complete dedication and support to Southeast." Gladys retired as personnel secretary, but had previously served as business office supervisor, which included overseeing the business office, admitting, switchboard, cashier's office and insurance office.
She was a member of Southeast Hospital Auxiliary, lifetime member of Zion United Methodist Church at Gordonville and Sunday school, and member of Gordonville United Methodist Women's Group. For several years she has attended Grace United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Helen Esther Sheets of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; three sisters-in-law, Madelyn Rasche and Dolores Rasche of Cape Girardeau and Bonnie Rasche of Kennett, Missouri; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Irvin, Burton, Glenn and Harold Rasche; two nephews; and a great-nephew.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at Zion United Methodist Church.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Joel Kidwell and the Rev. Dr. Don Kuehle officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.
Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville.
