GLADYS PEYTON

EAST PRAIRIE -- Gladys Karr Tenkhoff Peyton, 84, of East Prairie died Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, at the East Prairie Nursing Center.

She was born March 2, 1913, in East Prairie, the daughter of Dick and Lyda Cline Karr.

In 1953, she married Cornelus J. Tenkhoff, who died in 1973. In 1981, she married Frank Peyton, who died April 25, 1995.

She had lived in Mississippi County most of her life. She was a retired schoolteacher, teaching in the East Prairie R-2 schools. She was a member of the Nelson Memorial United Methodist Church and a member of Eastern Star in Charleston.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister.

Visitation will be today after 3:30 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Funeral service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with Brother Jerry Willer officiating. Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
