Gladys Hewlett, 90, of Cape Girardeau, died Thursday, March 5, 1992, at Chateau Girardeau Health Care Center.
She was born Jan. 9, 1902, near Morley, daughter of James and Arabella Ragain Green. She married Virgil Hewlett June 30, 1932, in St. Louis. He died in 1974.
Hewlett moved to St. Louis as a young girl, and worked in the main office of Famous-Barr downtown for 20 years. She moved back to Cape Girardeau in 1975. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and its Kumjoynus Sunday School Class, St. Mark Order of Eastern Star 167, and Railway Mail Clerk's Auxiliary.
Survivors include two brothers, Champ Green of Cape Girardeau, Bill Green of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Johnny Taylor of Cape Girardeau, and Mitzie Snipes of Affton.
She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Neil Stein will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. today. An Order of Eastern Star service will be held at 6.
