Gladys Henson, 89, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at Monticello House in Jackson. She was born Feb. 15, 1922, in Allenville, to Monroe and Della Mae Thompson Baker. She and Martin Kaiser were married June 1, 1963. He passed away Feb. 4, 1976. She and Howard Henson were married Oct. 1, 1977. He passed away Aug. 5, 1978...

Gladys Henson, 89, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at Monticello House in Jackson.

She was born Feb. 15, 1922, in Allenville, to Monroe and Della Mae Thompson Baker. She and Martin Kaiser were married June 1, 1963. He passed away Feb. 4, 1976. She and Howard Henson were married Oct. 1, 1977. He passed away Aug. 5, 1978.

Gladys worked 39 years at the former International Shoe Co. in Jackson, retiring in 1979. She was a longtime active member of Millersville Baptist Church and a former member of Allenville Baptist Church.

Loving survivors include three stepdaughters, Ellen Miller and husband James "Leon" of Panama City, Fla., Joan Whiteside-Mudge and husband Charles of Perryville, Mo., Barbara Winchester and husband Donald of Bono, Ark.; a stepson-in-law, Bill (the late Marilyn) Gregg of Harrisonville, Mo.; and several cousins, including Judy (Steve) Smith of Nashville, Tenn., and Gail (Andy) Auer of Cape Girardeau, who were actually more like her sisters.

Also 11 stepgrandchildren; 17 great-stepgrandchildren; and five great-great-stepgrandchildren.

In addition to husbands, parents and a stepdaughter, she was preceded in death by a stepgrandson and two stepgranddaughters.

Friends may call from noon to time of service Sunday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Daniel Hale officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Millersville Baptist Church.
