Gladys Riston Brown, 90, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was born Monday, May 1, 1922, in Vanduser, Mo., to Francis M. and Mary J. Cummins Riston. She and David B. Brown were married Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1942. He preceded her in death July 6, 1996, after 54 years of marriage...

Gladys Riston Brown, 90, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Monday, May 1, 1922, in Vanduser, Mo., to Francis M. and Mary J. Cummins Riston. She and David B. Brown were married Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1942. He preceded her in death July 6, 1996, after 54 years of marriage.

Gladys was a member of the East Cape Baptist Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution, and also was a Union Daughter. Gladys worked as a private-duty nurse and later worked as a nurse at the Lutheran Home, retiring in 1986.

She is survived by a daughter, Dee Dee (Windall) Wilson of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren, Regina (Adam) Wilson, David Keith (Trish) Brown, Angela Duran, John (Julie) Hadjioannou, Mallory (Ryan) Gibson, Macy Wilson and Andrew Wilson; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Louise Brown; eight brothers; and seven sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Rob Mehner officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery in McClure, Ill.
