GILBERT W. KASSEL

PERRYVILLE -- Gilbert W. Kassel, 79, of Perryville died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1992, at Myers Nursing Home in Beardstown, Ill.

He was born Feb. 18, 1913, at Frohna, the son of Charles and Martha Lueders Kassel. On April 17, 1938, he married Flora Boehme, who preceded him in death Jan. 18, 1976.

He also was preceded in death by his parents, a step-mother, Etta Niswonger Kassel, a step-brother and a step-sister.

He was an automobile mechanic and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville. He also served on the Immanuel Lutheran Board of Education.

Survivors include a son, Robert G. Kassel of Beardstown; a daughter, Kay Kassel of St. Louis; two sisters, Irene Brandes of Jackson and Leola Franke of Uniontown; two step-brothers, Walter and Billy Kassel; a step-sister, Shirley Peat; and three grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6:30-8:30 a.m. today at Young and Sons Funeral Chapel in Perryville. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. today at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville. The Rev. Donald Loesch will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery.
