Gilbert Louis Renner, 77, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, July 30, 2020, at the Lutheran Home, after a 13-year battle with Alzheimer's disease.

He was born Aug. 7, 1942, in Perry County, Missouri, to the late Christian and Frieda Lieble Renner. He and Pat Wiethop were married Nov. 20, 1965, in Cape Girardeau.

Gilbert was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church, the church men's club and dartball team. He worked as a diesel mechanic for Wiethop Truck Sales for 25 years and Lipps Trucking for 15 years.

Loving survivors include his wife, Pat Renner of Cape Girardeau; sons, Scott (Christie) Renner of Jackson and Tim (Jennifer) Renner of Cape Girardeau; granddaughters, Jourdan (Cody) Broeker of Perryville, Missouri, and Shelby Renner of Cape Girardeau; grandson, Cole Renner of Cape Girardeau; eight siblings, Treasa Webb of Perryville, Ann Shrum of St. Louis, Jerome Renner of Perryville, Paul (Kathy) Renner of Uniontown, Missouri, Leola (Gene) Bock of Uniontown, Rita (Don) Kohlfeld of St. Charles, Missouri, Sharon Schnurbusch of Longtown, Missouri, and Allen (Bonnie) Renner of Independence, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Private family services were held at Hanover Lutheran Church, and the Rev. Steven Theiss officiated. Private burial followed at Hanover Lutheran Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hanover Lutheran Church Building Fund, 2949 Perryville Road, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
