Marble Hill, Mo. -- Gertrude "Gertie" C. Vandeven, age 88, of Leopold, Mo., passed away Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011 at her residence. She was born Feb. 15, 1923, at Leopold, daughter of Gerhard L. and Anna Debrock Jansen. On Sept. 20, 1945, she and Victor George Vandeven where united in marriage at St. John's Catholic Church at Leopold. He passed away on Dec. 5, 2007...

Marble Hill, Mo. -- Gertrude "Gertie" C. Vandeven, age 88, of Leopold, Mo., passed away Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at her residence.

She was born Feb. 15, 1923, at Leopold, daughter of Gerhard L. and Anna Debrock Jansen. On Sept. 20, 1945, she and Victor George Vandeven where united in marriage at St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold. He passed away on Dec. 5, 2007.

Mrs. Vandeven was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Catholic Church and Ladies Sodality of St. John's Church.

Survivors include sons Norbert (Millie) Vandeven, Phillip (Vickey) Vandeven, both of Marble Hill, Darrel (Carolyn) Vandeven of Whitewater; daughters Carol Ann (Larry) VanGennip of Marble Hill, Connie (Larry) Nussbaum of Leopold; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven brothers and three sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Alzheimer's Association.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, with parish prayers and Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:15 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church, with the Rev. William Hennecke officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
