Gertrude H. Pixley, 100, died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at the Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
She was born June 22, 1900, at Uniontown, Ky., daughter of Ernest and Nora Pike Williams. She and Melvin W. Pixley were married Nov. 1, 1919, at Advance, Mo. He died Aug. 5, 1980.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter, Mo., where she belonged to the Church Women United and the Catholic Womens' Council. She was a retired clerk from the Stovalls Department Store in Dexter.
Survivors include one son, Bernard Pixley of Dexter, Mo.; three daughters, Betty Belle Brannock and Joan Williams, both of Cape Girardeau, and Drucille Ayers of Dexter, Mo.; three sisters, Anetta Varble of Leora, Mo., Augusta Williams of Springfield, Mo., and Elenora Burden Bridwell of Sikeston, Mo.; 25 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, three brothers and one sister.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter, Mo. Parish prayers will begin at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Sheley officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery.
