EAST PRAIRIE -- Gertrude Elizabeth Staggs, 89, of East Prairie, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1992, at Sells Rest Home in Matthews.
She was born Oct. 5, 1903, in Golconda, Ill., daughter of George Wiley and Martha Condelia Bryant Rose. She first married Joseph Gullion, who preceded her in death. She later married George A. Staggs, who also preceded her in death.
Staggs was a member of St. James General Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, James Gullion of East Prairie; two daughters, Judy McGuire of East Prairie, Georgia Summers of St. Charles; a brother, Virgil Rose of Indianapolis, Ind.; two sisters, Fern Allcock and Bertha Cockran of Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter, two sisters, a brother and two grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shelby Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Raymond Hannah will officiate, with burial in Dogwood Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
