OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Gertrude M. Bruer, 79, of Eddyville, Ky., formerly of Olive Branch, died Saturday, March 21, 1998, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky. She was born Jan. 16, 1919, in Bureau County, daughter of James William and Mayme Yocks Abrams. She and George William Bruer were married on Sept. 20, 1942. He died Sept. 10, 1997...

OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Gertrude M. Bruer, 79, of Eddyville, Ky., formerly of Olive Branch, died Saturday, March 21, 1998, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky.

She was born Jan. 16, 1919, in Bureau County, daughter of James William and Mayme Yocks Abrams. She and George William Bruer were married on Sept. 20, 1942. He died Sept. 10, 1997.

She and her husband owned and operated the Cinderella Motel in Gilbertsville, Ky.

She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church in Eddyville.

Survivors include two sons, William Bruer of Granville and John Bruer of Olive Branch; five daughters, Kathyern Brantly of Paducah, Mary Blakesmore of Olive Branch, Barbara Burr of McNabb, Patricia Crowe of Princeton, Ky., and Elizabeth Marquadt of Blue Island; a sister, Anne Abrams of Spring Valley; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.

A graveside funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Greenwood Cemetery in Bureau. The Rev. John Kwak will officiate.

Crain Funeral Home of Tamms is in charge of the arrangements.
