Gerry David Roberson of Cape Girardeau passed away peacefully Friday, May 19, 2023, at home, after an arduous, but short, battle with liver cancer at the young age of 68 years old.
Gerry was born June 23, 1954. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany from 1971 to 1972.
Gerry was a small-business owner. He owned and operated NSR Services LLC in Southeast Missouri for more than 15 years. NSR Services was his life's work, and he poured everything he had into it, which showed to all patrons and customers.
In addition to owning NSR Services, he was a staple of the community, helping in any way he possibly could. He spent most of his time working, trying to better himself, his family and friends, and being an outstanding Dad and Papa. He loved beans, cornbread and buttermilk, listening to his children play music and living life to its fullest.
Everyone who knew Gerry knew how energetic he was and how he could fill a room. He was full of light, laughter and positivity, qualities he took pride in and that were obvious to all, after even just a single meeting with him.
He is survived by his brother, Joseph, and two sisters, Linda and Janet, all of Houston; six children, Jason (Tasha) Roberson, Lora Roberson, Troy (Bryanna) Roberson, Bobbie Jo (David) Nettles, Katie Roberson and Michael Smith; and 12 grandchildren, Tyler (Isabel) Smith, Cody Smith, Nathan Nenninger, William Elledge, Leah Elledge, Emma Burton, Jesco Hank Roberson, Shelby Roberson, Maezy Roberson, Gemma Roberson, Rylee Roberson and August Roberson.
Gerry was preceded in death by his siblings, Allen, Kenneth, Frances, Glenda and Michael.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 27, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, 1001 N. Mount Auburn Road in Cape Girardeau.
A celebration of life will follow at noon Saturday, May 27, at the funeral home.
His loved ones will miss him more than words can begin to describe, but they know he is at peace with the Lord.
Online condolences may be sent at www.fordandsonsfuneralhome.com.
