Private funeral service for Geraldine F. Thompson of Cape Girardeau will be held today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. Private burial will be Monday at Pine Village Cemetery in Pine Village, Ind.
Thompson, 86, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 1994, at Chateau Girardeau Health Care Center.
She was born March 30, 1907, in Royal Center, Ind., daughter of Willard and Effie Thompson.
Thompson graduated from Lindenwood College in St. Charles, received master's degrees in English and library science at the University of Illinois, and did further graduate work at the University of Indiana and Purdue University.
She taught elementary school at Thebes, Ill., taught in an Indiana high school, worked for the U.S. Government in Chicago during World War II, and retired from teaching at a high school in Lowell, Ind.
Thompson had lived in Cape Girardeau since 1979, and was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral.
Survivors include a niece, Andrea Rogers of Houston, Texas, and a cousin, Irene Jerome of East Cape Girardeau, Ill.
