Geraldine Bohnert, 79, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, June 29, 2020, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 9, 1940. in Longtown, Missouri, to Herman Joseph and Mary Anna Schwein Leible. She and Leo Joseph Bohnert were married Sept. 29, 1962, in Apple Creek, Missouri. He preceded her in death Sept. 19, 2011.

Geraldine was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.

She shaped many young people's lives as a day care provider in her own home; she made sure they had three home-cooked meals per day.

Survivors include her two sons, Ron (Sherry) Bohnert and Shannon Bohnert, all of Cape Girardeau; sisters, Wilma Rose (Elvis) Bohnert of Biehle, Missouri, Barbara Ann (Benno) Passenheim of Arnold, Missouri, Dorothy Ida (the late Marty) Sticht of Advance, Missouri, and Mary Catherine (Donnie) Ruessler of Perryville, Missouri; brothers, Oscar Joseph (the late Carol) Leible of Mexico, Missouri, and Robert Isadore (Linda) Leible of Longtown; many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews; as well as many children she took care of as her own through the years.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, with parish prayers and rosary at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Brian Straus officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
