Gerald B. Rowan, 81, of Springfield died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, in a Springfield hospital
Formerly of Cape Girardeau, he was an attorney many years.
Rowan was a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, and a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia Law School.
After serving in Italy with the U.S. Army during World War II, he practiced law in Marble Hill and served as Bollinger County prosecuting attorney.
He later became associated with the former J. Grant Frye Law Firm in Cape Girardeau, and then worked at Oliver and Oliver Law Firm. He was involved with the legal work when the floodwall was constructed. He also served as city attorney.
Rowan moved to Kansas City and was employed on the legal staff of Kansas City Life, and retired as general counsel with the company.
He was a past president of Cape Girardeau Rotary Club, and was active in other community events.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; a son, Roger Rowan of Sao Paulo, Brazil; a daughter, Saundra Glover of Laughlin, Nev.; a brother, Mack Rowan of Neosho; and three grandchildren.
There will be no visitation or funeral.
