TAMMS, Ill. -- Gerald Powless, 74 years old, of Tamms, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 1991, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 19, 1916 in Tamms, the son of Sidney and Elizabeth Lawrence Powless.
On June 27, 1942, he married Maxine Fite, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Gary Powless, Media, Ill., a daughter, Betty Jean Livesay, Wolf Lake, Ill.; one sister, Victoria Wargo, Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
He was a member of the Alexander Free Will Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and taught Sunday school for 25 years.
He was a member of the Alexander-Pulaski Farm Bureau, a member of the Tamms Volunteer Fire Department and president of the painters local union in Cairo, Ill.
Friends may call at the Crain Funeral Home in Tamms after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Horton and the Rev. Dale Billingsley officiating. Burial will follow in the McCrite Cemetery at Tamms.
