Gerald L. "Jerry" Slinkard, 65, of Hastings, Neb., died Monday, Oct. 5, 1992, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Grand Island, Neb.
He was born July 2, 1927, in Cape Girardeau, son of Jess and Carrie Overbeck Slinkard.
Slinkard served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He moved to Hastings in 1946 from Cape Girardeau. He worked for the Navy Ammunition Depot, and later owned and operated Jerry's Skelly Service Station many years.
He was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, American Legion, and DAV.
Survivors include a son, Steve Slinkard of Hastings; a brother, James "Jay" Slinkard of Cape Girardeau, and two grandchildren.
The body was donated to medical science. A memorial service was held Oct. 8 at Butler-Volland Funeral Chapel in Hastings, with the Rev. Alfred Pettinger officiating.
