Gerald F. Grojean, 78, of Medina, N.Y., died Friday, July 14, 2006, at Medina Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 22, 1927, at Dutchtown, son of Gregory and Josephine Meyer Grojean.
Grojean was a graduate of the former St. Mary's High School. He was employed by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. He moved to the Medina area in 1982 and worked for Iroquois Job Corps, retiring in 1995. He also had been a radio announcer and after retiring was a security guard. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medina.
He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1945, and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include two daughters, Camilla Moore of Jamestown, N.Y., Carol Burgin of Newport, Ark.; a son, Ervin Hoffmeister of Newport; two brothers, Meyer Grojean of Bradenton, Fla., David Grojean of Jackson; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 26 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau.
Bates and Tuttle Funeral Home in Medina was in charge of arrangements.
