ZALMA, Mo. -- Georgia Ellen Cookemboo, 75, of Zalma, died Dec. 15, 2005 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Oct. 21, 1930 in East Prairie, Mo., daughter of Frank and Mamie Carroll Jackson. She married James Cookemboo in 1948 in Arkansas. He died April 29, 1987...

ZALMA, Mo. -- Georgia Ellen Cookemboo, 75, of Zalma, died Dec. 15, 2005 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Oct. 21, 1930 in East Prairie, Mo., daughter of Frank and Mamie Carroll Jackson.

She married James Cookemboo in 1948 in Arkansas. He died April 29, 1987.

She was a retired teacher, having taught at Scott County Central School. She attended Zalma General Baptist Church. She was also a part-time postal worker at Zalma Post Office. She was active in Zalma civil affairs.

Survivors include a son, Larry Cookemboo of Portageville, Mo.; a daughter, Cathy Swift of Delta; two brothers, Bob Jackson of Bloomfield, Mo., and Bill Jackson of Wappapello, Mo.; two sisters, Doris Esparza of St. Louis, Mo., and Sue Esparza of Bethalo, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons and three brothers.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance, Mo.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Keith Price officiating.

Burial will be at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
