MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- The Rev. George Andrew Yount, 86, of Marble Hill passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. He was born Oct. 10, 1930, in Morley, Missouri, son of George Washington and Ada Amderella Wright Yount. He and Mary "Juanita" Cannon were united in marriage March 22, 1952, and she passed away Nov. 18, 2008...

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- The Rev. George Andrew Yount, 86, of Marble Hill passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 10, 1930, in Morley, Missouri, son of George Washington and Ada Amderella Wright Yount. He and Mary "Juanita" Cannon were united in marriage March 22, 1952, and she passed away Nov. 18, 2008.

Mr. Yount served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was ordained by the Congregational Methodist Church in 1958, was a member of the Community Church of Marble Hill and worked for National Lead in Granite City, Illinois, as a welder.

Survivors include his daughters, Jenette (Tim) Segerson of Henderson, Tennessee, Pat (James) Trentham and Sandy (Tony) Hughes, both of Marble Hill, and Lynn (Danny) Schweer of Cape Girardeau; brothers Ray Alden Yount of Clearwater, Florida, and Roy Albert Yount of Madison, Illinois; sisters Flossie "Gross" Boehl of Marble Hill, Lillian May Johnson of Granite City and Lucille Fay Hagler of Clermont, Florida; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and brothers David James and Frank Harry Yount.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel, with Sis. Diana Cook, the Rev. Ronnie Davis and Bro. Eddie Cook officiating. Burial will follow at the Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill, with full military honors provided by the Missouri Military Honors Team.
