ORAN -- George Joseph Walter, 63, of Oran died Thursday, March 20, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 14, 1933, at Oran, son of Adam and Hattie May Organ Walter. He and Louise Long were married Aug. 14, 1954.
Walter retired as a maintenance worker with Missouri State Highway Department in Sikeston.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Rick Walter of Benton, Kirby Walter of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; four daughters, Sherry Calabrese of Elmhurst, Ill., Georgia Castaneda of Visalia, Calif., Michelle Vinyard of Benton, Penny Walter of Oran; three sisters, Bertha Rommel of Oran, Theresa Brucker and Geneva Phillips of Kansas City; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran after 5:30 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. Gary Teague officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Garden at Morley.
