CAIRO, Ill. -- George W. Holman, 94, of Cairo, Ill., formerly of Olmsted, Ill., died Sunday, Jan. 21, 1996, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 30, 1901, to George and Elizabeth Green Holman in Oscar, Ky.
He married Ruth Carter on Oct. 31, 1925. She died in 1989.
Survivors are a daughter, Barbara Pitcher of Cairo; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Holman was a crane operator for Sinclair Oil Co. at Olmsted and retired as an engine room engineer on the towboat Emily Jean.
He was a member of the Olmsted United Methodist Church and Caledonia Lodge 47 AF & AM in Pulaski, Ill.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin, Ill., today from 4 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be at the funeral home Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jesse Bellamy officiating.
Burial will be in Olmsted Masonic Cemetery.
