SIKESTON -- George Q. Dawes, 78, of Sikeston, died Monday, April 11, 1994, at his home.
He was born Oct. 13, 1915, in Kansas City, son of George A. and Jessie McManus Dawes. He and Alice Sifferman were married Nov. 15, 1941, in Kansas City.
Dawes received a law degree from St. Louis University in 1952. He was an attorney in the legal department with District 10 of the Missouri Highway Department 15 years. He was also prosecuting attorney of Iron County 10 years.
He was a member of Missouri Bar Association, past president of Scott County Bar Association, served as judge advocate of American Legion of Missouri, and member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three sisters, Lucille Dicanzio of Palm Harbor, Fla., Rosemary Bales of Kansas City, and Adelia Spann of Kansas City.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today. A prayer service will be held at 7:30.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Church, with Msgr. William Stanton officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
