George Vernon Perr, 81, of Jackson passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2019, at Monticello House.

He was born March 30, 1937, near New Wells to Edward and Margareta Tiedemann Perr.

George was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church at New Wells. He had been a long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

He served six years in the Missouri National Guard from April 1955 through April 1961. He worked at Missouri Dry Dock in Cape Girardeau before he and his brother, Wilbert Perr, jointly owned and operated Perr Motor Company in Jackson and Fruitland from 1964 until it closed in 1989. The brothers also farmed together for many years.

George enjoyed going to auctions, playing the guitar and playing cards, especially 10-point Pitch.

Survivors include a sister, Melva Leimbach of Jackson; nieces and nephews, Carolyn Rouviere of Cape Girardeau, Ken (Janet) Enke of Cape Girardeau, Allen Palisch of Effingham, Illinois, Don (Linda) Palisch of Altenburg, Missouri, Alice Proemsey of Hillsboro, Missouri, Karen Lukefahr of Altenburg, Keith (Debbie) Leimbach of Jackson, Kevin (Vicki) Leimbach of Altenburg and Kathleen (the late Richard) Leimbach of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wilbert Perr; two sisters, Nelda Palisch and Rosa Enke; and a nephew, Richard Leimbach.

Friends may call from 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jason Shaw officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.
