SIKESTON -- George Lee Springs, 70, of Sikeston, died Friday, Oct. 23, 1992, at the Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was born Dec. 1, 1921 at Essex, son of Florence Eaton Springs, who survives of Dexter, and the late Robert Springs. He was a lifelong resident of the Sikeston area. SIKESTON -- George Lee Springs, 70, of Sikeston, died Friday, Oct. 23, 1992, at the Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

He was born Dec. 1, 1921 at Essex, son of Florence Eaton Springs, who survives of Dexter, and the late Robert Springs.

He was a lifelong resident of the Sikeston area. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston and was a retired letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service.

He was a member of the Retired Letter Carriers Association and a was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.

On March 15, 1946, he married Dorothy Clay at Parma. She survives of the home.

Also surviving are one daughter, Cynthia Cranick of Broken Arrow, Okla.; one sister, Imogene Chism of Dexter; and two granddaughters.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Charles E. Buck, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
