Private funeral service for George Leslie Semonis Jr., Cape Girardeau Route 2, will be held today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel.

Semonis, 72, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1993, at his home.

He was born Oct. 26, 1920, at Harrodsburg, Ky., son of George L. and H. Ester Grey Semonis Sr. He and Irene Beller were married in March 1948, in Atlanta, Ga.

Semonis had been a sales representative with a plastics company, and owned George's Antiques here more than 20 years.

He was a pilot in the U.S. Army during World War II, and received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Merrilee Bonney of Champaign, Ill.; a son, George Semonis III of Atlanta; two sisters, Elizabeth Terhune of Danville, Ky., Mary Devine of Cincinnati, Ohio, and four grandchildren.
