BLOOMFIELD -- George L. Fortner, 71, of Percy, Ill., died Monday, Nov. 14, 1994, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Aug. 4, 1923, in Bloomfield, son of Roy and Christine Fortner. He and Dorothy Nunn were married May 13, 1956, in St. Louis.
Fortner was a retired house painter. He was formerly of St. Louis and Chester, Ill.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, George Jr. and James Fortner of Los Angeles, Calif., Anthony Fortner of Florida; two sisters, Marilyn Hinkle of Percy, Nondus Fortner of St. Louis; a brother, Charles Marler of Hillsboro, Ill.; a sister, Betty Casey of Dexter; eight grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter after 4 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Frank Heitman officiating. Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery.
