SIKESTON -- Funeral service for George C. King of Sikeston will be held at 11 a.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home. Dr. Jim Guffie and the Rev. Lee Fansler will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

King, 81, died Monday, Dec. 8, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 7, 1916, at Illmo, son of J.O. and Sarah Elizabeth King. He and Edna Beck were married Aug. 14, 1937.

King was a wire chief with Southwestern Bell Telephone 24 years, was manager of Nu-Way Brake of Detroit, Mich., 12 years, and was associated with Ponder Funeral Home 13 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Sikeston.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Mike King of Eau Claire, Wis.; a daughter, Patty Stewart of Highland, Mich.; two brothers, Rev. D.K. King of Columbiaville, Mich., C.W. King of Clinton, Mich.; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
