JACKSON, Mo. -- George H. Webster, 75, of Jackson died Friday, June 9, 2000, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Nov. 16, 1924, in West Frankfort, Ill., son of George and Edith Gray Webster.
He and Mary Edith Sine were married Aug. 1, 1953.
Webster moved to Jackson in 1971. He was manager of the former P.N. Hirsch Store 17 years. He worked for the River Hills Traveler paper two years. He has been working the past 10 years for the River Country Outdoors newspaper, headquartered in Anna, Ill. Webster had announced his plans to retire this month.
He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Bass Anglers Sportsmen Society, and former member of Jackson Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson. He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Randy Webster of Cobden and Jeff Webster of Jackson; two daughters, Georgia Gerry of Blue Mountains, Miss., and Sarah Martin of Baldwin; a brother, Charles Webster of West Frankfort; a sister, Sherry Crouch of Anderson, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 5-8 p.m. Monday.
Funeral will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dale Jones officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
