SCOTT CITY -- George H. Kester, 69, of Scott City died Thursday, Dec. 28, 1995, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 26, 1926, at Cape Girardeau, son of Frederick John and Mary Mae Cobble Kester. He and Barbara Arnold were married Nov. 5, 1948, at Cape Girardeau.

He was a member of Broadway Methodist Church in Scott City. He had worked for the J.W. Gerhardt Construction Company and also was a self-employed carpenter. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife of Cape Girardeau; three sons, Paul "Terry" Kester of Wappapello, George "Donnie" Kester of Cape Girardeau and Marc Alan Kester of Kelso; a daughter, Paula Carol Minks of Beaufort; a brother, Bill Lee Kester of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Lilly Mae Johnson of Bakersfield, Calif., and Lucy Grace Sebaugh of Perryville; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister.

There will be no visitation.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Ron Watts will officiate, with burial in the Hobbs Chapel Cemetery. Graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW Post 3838.
