Funeral service for George E. Shelton Jr., 325 S. Louisiana, will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Larry Gallamore will officiate, with entombment in Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Shelton, 84, died Monday, Nov. 28, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 13, 1910, in Warren County, son of George and Irene Thomas Shelton. He and Verna Hawkins were married May 10, 1931, in Jonesburg.

Shelton was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and Cape Girardeau Country Club.

He was a graduate of Rubicam Business School in St. Louis. He had worked at Kreice and Sons Construction Company. He was employed 49 years with R.B. Potashnick Company in Cape Girardeau, retiring in 1984 as a vice president. He also was president of Mary Construction.

Survivors include his wife; a son, James Shelton of Jackson; a daughter, Patricia Beran of Chesterfield; two brothers, John Shelton of Moline, Ill., Edgar Shelton of Jonesburg; a sister, Opal Hart of Kansas City; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
