CAIRO, Ill. -- George A. Cave, 79, of Cairo died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 19, 1921, at Louisville, Ky., son of Sam and Alice Cave.
Cave retired from Service Master at Cairo after 20 years service. He was a past Exalted Ruler of the Cairo Elks Lodge 651, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Cairo VFW Post 2649.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Cave of Cairo; a son, Mike Cave of Cairo; and a sister, Mary Jackson of Louisville, Ky.
Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Barkett Funeral Home at Cairo. Elks memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jerome Fortenberry officiating. Burial will follow at the U.S. National Cemetery at Mound City, Ill.
