George Fred Bodenschatz, 91, of Ava, Ill., died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro, Ill.
He was born April 8, 1909, in Cape Girardeau County, son of Herman and Rose Landgraf Bodenschatz. He and Elsie Ruth Kranawetter were married June 14, 1969, in Jacob, Ill.
Bodenschatz was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill, Ill., and AAL.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Allen Bodenschatz of Kimberling City, Mo.; three sisters, Cleo Arthur of Preston, Mo., Marie Wachter of Perryville, Mo., Gertrude Nieters of Evansdale, Iowa; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava after 5 p.m. today, Saturday from 7:30-9 a.m., and at St. Peter Church after 10 a.m.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Church, with the Rev. Gregory J. Schultz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
