SIKESTON -- George B. Maxwell, 83, formerly of Cahokia, Ill., died Friday, June 21, 1996, at the Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston.
He was born April 11, 1913, at Belgrade, son of George Earl and Sarah Elizabeth Larmer Maxwell.
He and Dorothy Elizabeth Small were married July 5, 1943, at Bismark.
Maxwell served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was employed by A.C.F. Industries, Inc. in the Carter Carburetor Division for more than 30 years. He also was a member of the Emeth Masonic Lodge 1030 in Cahokia and the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Cahokia.
Survivors include his wife of Cahokia; a daughter, Claudia Neal of Sikeston; two sisters, Irene Fowler and Lorene Lands, both of Belgrade; and a grandson.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Valhalla Mausoleum Chapel in Belleville, Ill., with the Rev. Larry Davis officiating. Entombment will be in the family mausoleum.
Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
