CHARLESTON -- George Luther Anderson, 78, of Charleston died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at the VA Medical Center in Marion, Ill.
He was born Oct. 8, 1921, at Wolf Island, son of Luther and Meoley Cassel Anderson.
Anderson served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include a son, George Anderson Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; five sisters, Arlee Wade of Charleston, Artineer Parker of St. Louis, Nancy Martin of Scottsdale, Ariz., Deloris Miller and Ora Williams of Chicago; a friend, Salitha Smith of Charleston; two grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Matthew Baptist Church, with Floyd Wade officiating. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in National Cemetery at Mound City, Ill.
Friends may call at the church Thursday from 1 p.m. until service time.
