Genevieve Vaughn Thomas, 85, of Miller City, Illinois, passed away at 1:08 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Genevieve was born Sept. 28, 1929, at Frankfort, Kentucky, daughter of the late William Vaughn and Eula Schlamer Vaughn.
Genevieve was a member of Lake Milligan Baptist Church in Miller City, and was a homemaker and a housewife.
Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon Lloyd "Jack" Thomas in 2008; a son-in-law, Aaron Whitmore in 2008; a brother, Frank Vaughn; and a sister, Nora Thompson.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Whitmore of Jackson and Mitzi Thomas of Olive Branch, Illinois; two sons, Kenton (Paula) Thomas of Olive Branch and James (Robyn) Thomas of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Lingle of Olive Branch, Barbara Willoughby of Miller City, Sue Biggar of Princeton, Texas, and Fay Kowitz of Orange, California; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms, Illinois.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Dr. Larry L. Potts officiating. Interment will be in Mound City National Cemetery in Mound City, Illinois.
