Mrs. Geneva Maxine (Allen) Maevers passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, at Corinthian Skilled Nursing Center in Westlake, Ohio.
She was born on Nov. 1, 1925 at Burfordsville, the daughter of Ray and Rhonda (Johnson) Allen. She married Oliver Raymond Maevers on Oct. 21, 1944 at Egypt Mills. He died on Nov. 20, 1982.
She was baptized and confirmed on March 31, 1946 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. The confirmation verse was Romans 5:1.
She was employed for 30 years at the International and Florsheim Shoe companies. She retired from Procter & Gamble in 1985.
She was known for her love and devotion to family and friends, her desire to help others, and her crafting talents. She was a beautiful person. Mrs. Maevers especially liked Psalm 121.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Joe Allen and Carol Maevers of Festus, Mo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jeanette and Bill McSwain of Rocky River, Ohio; four brothers, James Allen of Brookport, Ill., Milford Allen of Cape Girardeau, Larry Allen of Jackson and Michael Allen of Imperial, Mo.; a sister, Ruth Aufdenberg of Jackson; five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Clinton (Chuck) Maevers and two brothers, Murel Allen and Darrell Allen.
Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, at Hanover Lutheran Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeffrey Sippy and Rev. Mark Martin.
Pallbearers will be Winston McSwain, Grant McSwain, Joel Maevers, Curtis Maevers, Scott Sinn, Terry Gerlach, Quenton Kelley and Kenneth Aufdenberg.
Burial will be at Trinity Cemetery in Egypt Mills.
Donations may be made to the St. Judes Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. or the Egypt Mills Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund.
