JACKSON, Mo. -- Geneva E. King, 81, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Gir-ardeau. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. JACKSON, Mo. -- Geneva E. King, 81, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Gir-ardeau.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Revs. Robert Cheney, Ann Mowery and Raymond Epps will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Fruitland, Mo.

Mrs. King was born Feb. 2, 1920, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Jesse and Zora Hodge Morton. She and Robert P. "Bob" King were married Oct. 22, 1936, and were looking forward to their 65th wedding anniversary this year.

Loving survivors include her husband; four sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Earlene King, Gene and Joyce King, Kenny and Jackie King, Ricky and Lynda King, all of Jackson; four daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Homer "Bub" Stamp Jr. of Scott City, Mo., Sharon and Bob Joyce, Mary Beth and Paul Vrbosky, Cynthia and Ken Hotop, all of Jackson.

Also surviving is a brother, Jack Morton of Cape Gir-ardeau; 14 grandchildren, Joey, Gregg and Kristi King, Jayne Hartman, Gina Cato, Kendra King, Erika and Deidre King, Lisa Toll, Don Jacobs III, Andrea and Amy Vrbosky, Jennifer and Sarah Hotop; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters and a granddaughter, Holly Christine Jacobs.

In 1952, Bob and Geneva opened Bob's Tire Repair in Jackson, where Geneva did the bookkeeping and accounting. The Kings' station was part of the Flying A franchise, and they were the first retailers to offer Pennzoil products.

The Kings were known locally for their musical ability. With Geneva at the keyboard and Bob on the fiddle, they played at church and civic functions and Jackson Homecomers.

Geneva was a member of Shawnee Hills Baptist Church in Jackson.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association.
