JACKSON -- Paul Eugene Statler, 80, of Jackson died Saturday, May 29, 1999, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He was born May 3, 1919, at Jackson, son of Tivis C. and Alpha Cowan Statler. He married Fern Evelyn Wessel May 27, 1943. He was a graduate of Jackson High School. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in the Pacific theater from 1942 to 1946 during World War II...

JACKSON -- Paul Eugene Statler, 80, of Jackson died Saturday, May 29, 1999, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born May 3, 1919, at Jackson, son of Tivis C. and Alpha Cowan Statler. He married Fern Evelyn Wessel May 27, 1943.

He was a graduate of Jackson High School. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in the Pacific theater from 1942 to 1946 during World War II.

He worked as a supervisor for Western Electric and AT&T in the eastern United States before retiring in 1982. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and Altenthal-Joerns Post 158 of the American Legion and the Jackson VFW Post and Telephone Pioneers.

Survivors include his wife of Jackson; two sons, Keith W. Statler of Dexter, Mich., and Brian W. Statler of Ellisville; a brother, Stuart Statler of Elkhart, Ind.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son and sister.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the 3 o'clock funeral Wednesday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Chapel in Jackson.

Funeral will be at 3 o'clock Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial will be Memorial Park Cemetery.
