SIKESTON, Mo. -- Phillip E. "Gene" Schearf, son of the late Philip Ludwig and Myrtle Amelia Stoffregen Schearf, was born Sept. 28, 1925, in Delta and departed this life Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020, at his home in Sikeston at the age of 94 years.
On Feb. 26, 1949, he was united in marriage to Enid Alice Campbell in Chaffee, Missouri. She survives of the home in Sikeston.
Gene was a farmer and a former heavy equipment operator and was retired from the labor union in Cape Girardeau. He was a veteran of World War II.
Gene was a member of the First Baptist Church of Delta and a former resident of Delta.
Besides his wife, survivors include a daughter, Cindy Lynne (Mitchell) Jackson of Sikeston; brothers, Elmer Schearf of Cape Girardeau and Alvin Schearf of Delta; sister, Mildred Campbell of St. Louis; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Garry Schearf; daughter, Susan Kay Criddle; grandson, Christopher Lynn Schearf; and brothers, Levis, Lloyd, Glen Edward and Donald Schearf.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with he Revs. Randy Conn and Luke Jackson officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will follow at Morley (Missouri) Cemetery.
