Gene David Nation entered his heavenly home Saturday, July 9, 2022. He was 77 years old and was the youngest son of John Louis and Lily Florence Blankenship Nation of Illmo. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers. Gene became a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in June 1966, and it was there he married Margaret Trost on Aug. 6, 1966. They were blessed with 55 years together...

Gene David Nation entered his heavenly home Saturday, July 9, 2022.

He was 77 years old and was the youngest son of John Louis and Lily Florence Blankenship Nation of Illmo. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers.

Gene became a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in June 1966, and it was there he married Margaret Trost on Aug. 6, 1966. They were blessed with 55 years together.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Jeanette (Cheri) Chapman and Debra (Jim) Brown; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Paul Nation of Scott City and Richard Nation and Judy Enderle of Chaffee, Missouri.

Gene was employed by Benny Wheeler, Ely Walker, the Buckstein factory and later retired after 32 years as a cutter with Thorngate Ltd. He enjoyed working on small engines, doing yard work and spending time with his family. He attended Men's Cursillo No. 10 in 1981 that strengthened his walk with his beloved Savior Jesus Christ.

Visitation will be at 3 p.m. for the family and from 4 to 7 p.m. for the public on Thursday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Ambrose Church in Chaffee with the Rev. Joseph Kelly officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joe Trost, John Nation, Matt Trost, Michael Nation, Darryl Finney and A.J. Hawkins.
