Glenn "Gene" Hahs, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Nov. 26, 2021, at Southeast Hospital.

He was born Sept. 22, 1936, in Millersville to Glen Hahs and Verna Moore Hahs. He and Peggy Ann Riehn were married Dec. 22, 1956, in Cape Girardeau.

Gene was a graduate of College High.

He served as the manager of IGA in Scott City and retired after 32 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Sheryl (Dale) Farris of Chaffee, Missouri, and Rebecca Hahs of Old Appleton; two sons, Mark (Mendy, deceased) Hahs of Pocahontas and David Hahs of Cape Girardeau; sister, Jo Anna (Ron) Jones of Jackson; seven grandchildren, Michael (Brandi) McGee, David Taylor (Cyndi) Hahs and Ariel Hahs of Cape Girardeau, Melissa McGee of Columbus, Georgia, Matthew Hahs and Macey Hahs of Pocahontas and Duncan (Ceirsten) Hahs of Egypt Mills; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, one sister-in-law and one daughter-in-law.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, with the Pastor Phil Roop officiating.
