C. Gene Fee, 78, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born March 28, 1930, in Dexter, Mo., son of Oren and Evelyn Capps Fee. C. Gene Fee, 78, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at St. Mary's Health Center.

He was born March 28, 1930, in Dexter, Mo., son of Oren and Evelyn Capps Fee. He married Carol Jean Staples, who died in June 2002.

Mr. Fee graduated from high school in Cape Girardeau and attended Southeast Missouri State University. He received a juris doctorate from the University of Missouri Law School.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a member of Missouri National Guard from 1960 to 1991.

A resident of Jefferson City the past 40 years, Mr. Fee was employed by Missouri Public Service Commission from 1970 until retiring as chief hearing examiner in 1991.

He was a member of Roy Sone VFW Post 1003, Eagles Aerie 2693, Elks, National Rifle Association and Military Order of the Cootie.

Mr. Fee had attained senior attorney status with Missouri Bar Association. He enjoyed hunting and was a Civil War historian.

Survivors include two daughters, Melenie and Gabrielle Fee of Jefferson City; a son, Clinton T. Fee of Jefferson City; an uncle with whom he was raised, Ronald Fee and wife Lee of Cape Girardeau; and a cousin, Sandra Capps Shaw and husband Jim of Fairfax Station, Va.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Freeman Mortuary in Jefferson City.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society or Roy Sone VFW Post 1003.
