CAPE GIRARDEAU - Gene Ernst, 73, of Cape Girardeau, died Thursday, March 28, 1991 at his home at 1300 Margaret.
He was born Sept. 18, 1917 at Brinkley, Ark. to Henry and Anna Walbraun Ernst, who are both deceased.
Ernst was a retired office manager for the International Shoe Company in St. Louis. He was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church here and a veteran of World War II, serving with the Merchant Marines.
He married Lorene Louise Heuring on June 28, 1938. She survives, of the home.
Surviving also are a son, Bob Ernst of St. Louis; a brother, Ben Ernst of Scott City; a sister, Lucille Ernst, also of Scott City; and two grandchildren.
The body is at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, where friends may call after 5 p.m. today. Parish prayers are scheduled to begin there at 8 p.m.
Funeral service will take place at the chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Roger Leveille, the pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
