EAST PRAIRIE -- Gene Marshall Ashley, 66, of East Prairie died Thursday, Oct. 17, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Oct. 27, 1929, near Bertrand, son of A.H. and Fannie Ing Ashley. He and Erma Scruggs were married Aug. 18, 1956.
Ashley lived in Mississippi County most of his life. He had been a teacher and was employed 28 years by Division of Family Services in East Prairie. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Charleston. Ashley served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Andrea Bough of Kansas City; two brothers, Jerry Ashley of Ashland, Ohio, Jack Ashley of Madison, Tenn.; two sisters, Janice Kay of Chaffee, and Maurine Huffines of Nashville, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gerald Penn and Johnny Bell officiating. Burial will be in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
