Gena L. Hart, 91, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of West Frankfort, Ill., passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at Ratliff Care Center.
She was born June 6, 1922, in West Frankfort, to Joseph and Maria Spagnoli Tedeschi. She married Patrick Hart in 1946. He preceded her in death Jan. 4, 1988.
Gena was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in West Frankfort. She owned and operated the Dollar Store in West Frankfort 12 years. She was very artistic, having won numerous awards for her paintings.
Survivors include a sister, Ida (Randall) Mosley of Cape Girardeau; nieces and nephews, Laura Beth White of Mt. Vernon, Ill., Marilyn Wood of Grapevine, Texas, Carol White of Arena, Wis., Tedra Gee of Paris, Tenn., Madison Mosley of Cape Girardeau, Maria Smith of Puxico, Mo., and Joseph Mosley of Scott City; and several great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and three brothers, John, Bob and Pete Tedeschi.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort. The rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Catholic School in West Frankfort and will be accepted at the funeral home.
