CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Gary G. Schrum, 57, of Chaffee peacefully passed away Friday, March 16, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

He was born March 31, 1960, in St. Louis. He was the son of Roy and Stella Irene Sadler Steger, and Ollie Earl Schrum. He and Debbie Bedwell married March 6, 2010, and she survives of the home.

Gary was a retired self-employed mechanic. He was a member of the War Child Riding Group of Chaffee. He enjoyed building old hot rods, riding motorcycles and drag racing. Besides his family, his biggest pride was raising money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the local veterans as part of the War Child Riding Group.

He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Schrum; three sons, David Aitken of Granite City, Illinois, Danny (Kelly) Shaver of Yuma, Arizona, and Christopher Owens of Chaffee; two daughters, Vicky Jo (Junior Salinas) Schrum of Yuma and Curtlynn Owens of Chaffee; a brother, Bobby (Anita) Schrum of Chaffee; four sisters, Barbara (Rodney) Kirn of Jackson, Tina (John) Swinford of Chaffee, Tammy (Rick Hardin) Schrum of Piedmont, Missouri, and Shawn (Gary) Pope of St. Petersburg, Florida; and three grandchildren, Daniel Shaver, Aiden Salinas and Brianna Salinas. He has a special niece, Nicole (Time Clark) Schrum of Chaffee, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jimmy, Tommy and Ronnie Schrum; and a sister, Janice Kay Schrum.

A celebration of life will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Chaffee Nutrition Center.

Memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Friday at the center. This celebration will be biker friendly, and casual attire will be greatly appreciated. All patches are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to War Child Riding Group to help in aiding its mission to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and local veterans.
