Gary Rhodes

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Gary Wayne Rhodes, 57, of Atlanta, formerly of Marble Hill, passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011.

He was born Nov. 26, 1953, in Marble Hill, son of Joseph Johnson and Dortha Irene Diesel Rhodes. He and Diane Gail Abernathy were married Dec. 26, 1974. She passed away Feb. 25, 2008.

Gary was a civil engineer.

Survivors include his mother, Dortha of Marble Hill; two sons, Sam Rhodes of Marietta, Ga., Anthony Wayne Rhodes of Atlanta; and a grandson, Maddux Walker Rhodes.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph; a sister, Nancy Kay; father and mother-in-law, Cecil Samuel and Hazel Lucille Abernathy; and a sister-in-law, Debra Kay Abernathy.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Fred Ritter officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Gravelton, Mo.
