Gary Wayne Pewitt, 58, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Feb. 20, 1955, in St. Louis, to Glen E. and Verda M. Russell Pewitt. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving four years.

He and Diane Miller were married Dec. 22, 1979, in Dexter, Mo. He earned his bachelor's degree from Southeast Missouri State University in 1980 and was the chief financial officer at Montgomery Bank in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus in Sikeston, Mo.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Pewitt of Cape Girardeau; a son, Jake A. Pewitt of Bristol, Tenn.; a daughter, Ann M. Pewitt of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Tom A. (Linda) Pewitt of Ellington, Mo.; and three sisters, Glenda (Alan) Chitwood of Ellington, Mo., Linda Pewitt of Cape Girardeau and Beverly (Dan) McKinney of Hermann, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Verda Pewitt; a brother-in-law, Gary Miller; and father and mother-in-law Earl and Esta Lee Miller.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel with parish prayers at 7 p.m.

The funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, with the Rev. David Hulshof officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery with full military honors by the Missouri Honors Team.
