Gary Douglas Beggs, 66, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, July 21, 2005, at Heartland Care and Rehab.
He was born June 29, 1939, at Oran, Mo., son of W.A. and Virginia Lee Dunn Beggs. He and Kathryn "Ann" Ferrell were married Feb. 25, 1958, in Cape Girardeau.
Beggs was a farmer and part owner of Ava Associates Inc. He was a member of La Croix United Methodist Church. He was formerly of Benton, Mo.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Cameron Ferrell Beggs of Benton, Gary Douglas Beggs Jr. of Blodgett, Mo.; a daughter, Michelle Lee Scherer of Benton; his mother of Sikeston, Mo.; a sister, Gail Cooper of Blodgett; 12 grandchildren, Megan, Bethany, Whitney, Travis, Heather, Gary Douglas III and Ashton Beggs; Emily and Sarah Scherer; Melissa Riley, Ashley Barnett and Hollis Malone; two great-grandchildren, Jaxon Van Pelt and Mackenzie Barnett.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Ray Beggs.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Benton United Methodist Church. The Rev. Ron Watts will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens at Morley, Mo.
Pallbearers will be Matt Dannenmueller, Keith Barnett, Billy Van Pelt, Kris Oliveira, Travis Beggs, Gary Douglas Beggs III, Ashton Beggs and Hollis Malone.
